cheapy-likies me likey! < cheek and lip stain

since I have finished being a student, I am poor – poorer than when I was student, which was poor, but to be fair, I`ve never known a poor student … – so finding products that are supposed to do what the expensive products do but on the cheap is basically still too rich for my blood … but I do like to window-shop!

so, here are a few of the proper products that we should all aim to try at least once in our life (because, life would be crap otherwise!) accompanied by the cheaper products that we convince ourselves are “just as good as the real thing!” …

Benefit`s High Beam cheek and lip tint sounds expensive at £18.50 compared to Superdrug`s own brand, 2True, which is priced at £1.99, but owning the 2True bottle, I can tell you that it actually lasts forever!!! it is very pink, and you can only use it as a lip tint or use just a dab as cheek tint (otherwise the look is disastrous ... unless you`re going for the Drag Queen/ transexual`s-first-attempt-at-applying-make-up-look) i would love to try Benefit`s version of it because you can also mix a tiny amount with your moisturiser to help your complexion look brighter and even the skin tone (which you can`t really do with 2True`s version), as well as using it to the cheeks and lips. maybe when i have some spare cash i`ll try it - maybe an Autumn purchase ...? - but for now, the cheaper stuff is an ok alternative, providing a lot of practice is had beforehand!

an alternative colour is Benefit`s Moon Beam, which would be perfect to use in the Summer mixed with moisturiser for a healthy-glow look, or anytime of the year if your skin is darker than fair (mine!). there wouldn`t be much point in me (and my fairer-than-fair skin) investing in this product, but anyone whose skin tone would benefit (i know, i used the word on purpose, hehe!) from this should try!

2True`s rose-coloured cheek and lip tint is a product that i have used more than once ... but only because i`m still trying to save up for this!!!:

... but Benefit`s Benetint in rose is £24.50, and 2True is only £1.99.

you literally only need a dab on your finger and then a light build-up on your cheeks (because it really is a stain) and i like because it doesn`t feel heavy and powdery on your skin like a powder blusher or a mousse blusher can. it, therefore, last aaages! i use this product during the Autumn mainly, and i always look forward to applying it because i love the look that it gives me - i feel very Wintery and i think i look cute, haha!

using the tint on your lips also makes them look lovely and helps that worry that your cheek and lip colours don`t match - because now they will! you will need to reapply like other lip-glosses and lipsticks and lip-balms, but that`s fine - that`s life.

the only criticism i have of the 2True stain i have is that if you get it wrong (too much liquid on the cheeks) you really notice it ... i`m not sure if Benefit`s stain is as unforgiving as 2True`s, but for the price I`m hoping not ...!
