since I have finished being a student, I am poor – poorer than when I was student, which was poor, but to be fair, I`ve never known a poor student … – so finding products that are supposed to do what the expensive products do but on the cheap is basically still too rich for my blood … but I do like to window-shop!
so, here are a few of the proper products that we should all aim to try at least once in our life (because, life would be crap otherwise!) accompanied by the cheaper products that we convince ourselves are “just as good as the real thing!” …
this is the aim.
let`s face it, if a girl wants anything in her make-up bag, it`s something - anything - by Chanel. and what better product to have than something that looks - and is - both timeless and a classic piece that works.
this lip conditioner looks super classy in its black and gold case, and can be used as a conditioner (which, i`d never buy it for ... i`d buy Vaseline, no?) or as a primer for other lipsticks/lip-glosses. it`s £20, but i`d happily spend this for the sheer pleasure of applying it in front of people in the ladies loo!
however, i can`t afford that (right now) so i found this alternative (or not, as some people can get very protective over this brand!) from Avon, and it`s only £9:
the reviews for this product are all really good, and some people genuinely just live by Avon products, including this lip conditioner.
again, the lipstick case is classy in its muted taupe and gold case, and you would feel very elegant producing it in front of an audience. but, again, i wouldn`t buy this product to condition my lips ... (i don`t understand why one would when I find that Vaseline (or Blistex) do the job that it`s supposed to.) a lot of the reviews say that this is perfect to use by itself during the day, or as a base for the evening underneath another lipstick - apparently, it lessens the colour of the lipstick, but that could be a good thing sometimes because some colours are really garish and shouldn`t be seen on lips!
a cheaper way to try out lip conditioners is to buy from Avon (and Avon really is a brand that can be trusted) and then splash out on the Chanel (or ask for it as a present!) when you know if it works for you or not. i`m putting it on my Congratulations on Graduating List or Congratulations on Your New Job List ...
